Feature Attraction
Congratulations! Your team of imagineers has passed the first test. Your new theme park has opened and the attendance is high, thanks in part to your marketing campaign. In a recent evaluation of survey information, some of your quests suggested that your new park include a bumper car ride.
Your Task: Develop a bumper car ride that is based on the theme of your Disney/Pixar movie. Additionally, determine the cost of construction for the building. Another department will purchase the cars so this information is not relevant. Your distributor is selling 1 ft. by 1 ft. floor tiles for $75 each. Safety railing comes in 1 foot sections and are $50 each. Your plan for the ride should include a drawing and the cost for construction.
How to Address the Task (Steps for PBL Learning)
Step #1: Define the problem – Clearly state the problems that you are to solve, brainstorm, and tap into your prior knowledge.
Step #2: Plan a strategy – Define roles for each member of the team, determine what the final product should be, and create a timeline.
Step #3: Find information – Determine what information needs to be learned and the resources that your team should use.
Step #4: Use information – Take notes on the information for future use.
Step #5: Create the “product” – Create the design(s), cost, and visuals of the ride.
Step #6: Share your “product” – Share your ideas with the other imagineers from other departments.
